Who is the first and best of beings?1
God is the first and best of beings. (Isaiah 44:6; Psalm 8:1; 97:9)
Who is God?2
God is the Creator of heaven and earth, and of all things.
Had God a beginning?3
God had no beginning; He always was and He always will be.
Where is God?4
God is everywhere.
If God is everywhere, why do we not see Him?5
We do not see God, because He is a pure spirit and cannot be seen with bodily eyes.
Does God see us?6
God sees us and watches over us.
Who is God?7
In His Word God has told us that He is
- Spirit (a personal being without a body) (John 4:24)
- Eternal (without beginning and without end) (Psalm 90:1-2; 1 Timothy 1:17)
- Unchangeable (immutable) (Psalm 102:27; Malachi 3:6; James 1:17)
- Almighty, all-powerful (omnipotent) (Genesis 17:1; Matthew 19:26)
- All-knowing (omniscient) (Psalm 139:1-4; John 21:17; Jeremiah 23:24; Acts 17:27)
- Holy (sinless and hating sin) (Leviticus 19:2; Psalm 5:4-5; Isaiah 6:3)
- Just (fair and impartial) (Deuteronomy 32:4)
- Faithful (keeping His promises) (2 Timothy 2:13)
- Good (kind, desiring our welfare) (Psalm 118:1; Psalm 145:9)
- Merciful (full of pity) (Jeremiah 3:12; Titus 3:5)
- Gracious (showing undeserved kindness, forgiving) (Exodus 34:6-7)
- Love (John 3:16; 1 John 4:8)
Note: God’s attributes tell us what God is. God is each of these, all of these, and more than these attributes.
How do we know there is a God?8
The light of nature in man, and the works of God, plainly declare that there is a God; but His Word and Spirit only, do effectually reveal Him unto us for our salvation. (Romans 1:18-20; Psalm 19:1-2; 2 Timothy 3:15; 1 Corinthians 1:21-24; 1 Corinthians 2:9-10)
Are there more gods than one?9
There is but one only, the living and true God. (Deuteronomy 6:4; Jeremiah 10:10)
